Responsibilities*

 

 

  • Independently lead research projects in computer vision, machine learning, AI, and robotics.  Projects may include physically-grounded AI guidance agents, modeling of multimodal data, and generative AI systems for situated dialogue.  Projects may span specific application domains like healthcare and education, but will always emphasize generalization and broader impact.  
  • Specific sensing modalities include monocular RGB imagery and video, depth imagery and video, audio, auxiliary metadata, and related language-based material, including figures and sketches.
  • May include the design and realization of physical research infrastructure, including fixed apparatuses and mobile vehicles.
  • May include field work for certain user studies.
  • Play a key role in the broader research initiative, leading project ideation, documentation, and presentations, and mentoring students of all levels. Participate in funding, deliverable preparation, and meetings.
  • Document work, produce open source data, software, and results; publish strong technical papers in top venues such as CVPR, ICLR, ICCV, NeurIPS, AAAI, ECCV, MICCAI, IPMI, ICRA, IROS, RSS, and associated journals.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong research background in computer vision, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and/or robotics
  • Established record of publication in the top venues in the field (e.g. CVPR, ICLR, ICCV, NeurIPS, AAAI, ECCV, MICCAI, IPMI, ICRA, IROS, RSS, and associated journals)
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead research projects
  • Expertise with Python and relevant libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV, ROS); experience with software development for AI, robotics, or sensing systems.
  • Appreciation for well-architected and elegantly-engineered software systems
  • Proven ability to document research, write manuscripts, present at conferences, and prepare funding deliverables.
  • Interest in conducting user studies and field work (when required)
