Job Summary
The School of Dentistry's Dental Informatics IT department is seeking an experienced Senior Desktop Support Specialist to join our Help Center team. You will deliver tier 2 & 3 support for a broad array of technology needs serving faculty, staff, researchers, and clinical teams across education, research, patient care, and administration. You'll be part of a mission-focused group advancing the School's commitment to innovative dental education and service. You will report to the IT Help Center Supervisor. Learn more about us here.
You will work fully on-site at the School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, MI, between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Occasional evening or Saturday support may be required.
What You'll Do:
As a senior Desktop Support Specialist, you'll be a go-to expert for resolving advanced technology issues across our clinical, research, educational, and administrative areas. You'll manage device upgrades, troubleshoot critical incidents, guide team improvements, and ensure operational compliance and security. Working closely with colleagues and campus partners, you'll drive service excellence and support a positive user experience every day. Some of the key ways you'll do this:
- Serve as the lead resource for complex IT troubleshooting, resolving issues that impact critical operations, and ensuring prompt, effective solutions.
- Champion lifecycle activities for computing devices, from configuration and deployment to upgrades and documentation.
- Foster collaboration across teams by mentoring peers, sharing best practices, and delivering technical guidance and training.
- Advocate for and implement robust security protocols and compliance standards to protect sensitive institutional data.
- Contribute to service enhancements and process improvements by analyzing support metrics, identifying trends, and recommending actionable solutions.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of progressive technical support experience in a multi-user environment supporting Windows, MacOS, iOS, and networked systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced troubleshooting and resolution of technical incidents, systems integration, and support for mission-critical computing systems, applications, and networks.
- Experience coordinating and supporting the deployment, upgrade, and lifecycle management of computing hardware and software, and actively contributing to process and technology change initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with vendors, IT leadership, and cross-functional teams on technology and compliance initiatives.
- Proficiency with security best practices, business continuity, and regulatory requirements.
