Job Summary

 

M-CHOIR, through the Section of Plastic Surgery at Michigan Medicine, is seeking motivated senior students who are interested in a 2-year employment opportunity following graduation. This position will start with a volunteer period on the hand surgery research time, and transition to paid, full-time employment after the students graduation. We conduct studies on a range of topics, from health policy to global surgery and the use of artificial intelligence in medicine. 

Responsibilities*

 

Responsibilities for the full-time position include independently carrying out clinical research studies from their preliminary stages to publication, maintaining our photos/videos database, and assisting with clinical and administrative responsibilities. The candidate will also serve as an assistant to the Chief of Hand Surgery and must demonstrate timely communication and excellent organizational skills. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply, though they should have plans to pursue a career in medicine and be interested in a 2-year gap program.

Responsibilities: 

  • Independently conducting clinical research studies from proposal to publication.
  • Maintaining the lab's clinical media database by accompanying Dr. Chung to the operating room and his weekly clinic. Tasks include filming surgical procedures, photographing, and documenting patient outcomes.
  • Creating educational materials on patient conditions, clinical case studies, and surgical procedures for clinician and trainee use.
  • Assisting with various clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Required Qualifications*

 

The candidate must have already graduated or will have graduated by the time they start working and are able to commit to 2 years of employment.

Desired Qualifications*

 

The candidate must demonstrate timely communication and excellent organizational skills. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply, though they should have plans to pursue a career in medicine and be interested in a 2-year gap program.

Work Schedule

 

The candidate is expected to work a regular 40-hour work week, from 8:00am- 4:30pm. However, these hours may be variable on a week-to-week basis. Depending on how often the candidate accompanies Dr. Chung to the operating room and his weekly clinic, they may be expected to work overtime, for which they will be compensated accordingly.

Background Screening
