The experimental ATLAS group at the University of Michigan is seeking applications for a senior Electronics Engineer to work on the integration and commissioning of the detector and electronics for the ATLAS Monitored Drift Tube (MDT) detector. In addition, the candidate needs to work on the maintenance and daily operations of the MDT system, as well as conduct electronics and detector studies for the Future Circular Collider-ee. The candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate students involved in these projects.
The Michigan ATLAS group actively participates in diverse physics analyses - including Higgs, electroweak processes, and searches for new phenomena - as well as the operation of the ATLAS MDT detector and its Phase-I and Phase-II upgrades. We are seeking an exceptional candidate with a proven track record in the development of both particle detectors and high-speed electronics. The start date can be mutually negotiated and can be as early as March 1, 2026. A PhD degree in experimental particle physics or fast electronics design is highly preferred for this position.
This position is located at the CERN facility in Geneva, Switzerland.
For general information about this position, please contact Prof. Junjie Zhu (junjie@umich.edu). To receive full consideration, interested candidates are encouraged to submit their application materials by Feb 15, 2026. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the position will remain open until filled.
