Job Summary

 

The Department of Behavioral Sciences seeks a Temporary Research Assistant to support faculty-led anthropological research projects, including ongoing research in metropolitan Detroit. This position is well suited for a student or recent graduate with training in anthropology or a related field who is interested in qualitative and community-based research.

Responsibilities
The Temporary Research Assistant will support multiple research activities, which may include:
 

  • Assisting with ethnographic research, including interviews, participant observation, transcription, and fieldnote organization
  • Supporting qualitative data analysis and data management
  • Assisting with the editing and preparation of grants, reports, and other research documents 
  • Organizing research materials and contributing to ongoing research workflows

Work Schedule

  • 2-10 hours per week
  • Schedule is flexible and will be arranged in coordination with the supervising faculty member

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Bachelor's degree in Anthropology or a closely related field
  • Strong writing, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with qualitative or ethnographic research methods
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks responsibly

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Prior experience with ethnographic or community-based research
  • Interest in urban, migration, or community studies
  • Experience with academic writing or grant preparation
