Responsibilities
? Leading, designing, and implementing the unit?s orientation program in collaboration with the supervisors/CNS/director which may include scheduling, preceptor/mentor development and training, record keeping, MiChart assessments and efficiency, etc.
? Develop standard orientation documents for staff nurses and assistive personnel.
? Staff educational/competency needs assessment
? Participating in the annual education planning for ambulatory oncology across the network
? Collaborating with the oncology CNS and infusion educators on clinic/infusion opportunities
? Developing and maintaining website resources for oncology clinic staff in collaboration with the oncology CNS
? Conduct education assessment surveys on a regular schedule to determine learning needs of nurses and assistive personnel.
? Coordinate in-services based on results of education assessment surveys and other identified needs for learning.
? Provide and coordinate continued education (CE) opportunities for staff nurses.
? Become a superuser for MiChart and act as a resource to clinical staff.
? Partner with ambulatory care leadership and other roles on quality improvement initiatives. This includes designing/planning, implementation, and re-evaluation of initiatives. Report on quality improvement projects to ambulatory care leadership and staff.
? Develop/revise patient education materials in partnership with Unit Based Committees, physicians, staff, and other key stakeholders.
? Assist ambulatory care leadership with special projects as needed.
? Ensure staff complete and maintain required competencies including institutional mandatory requirements.
? Collaborate with ENCs across ambulatory care with goal of establishing a network and sharing best practices. partnering with other ENCs on nursing practice, process improvement and other identified projects for ambulatory care
? Assist in the development of protocols, standing orders and guidelines.
? Promote the use of evidenced based practice in the ambulatory care setting.
? Encourage and assist with development of abstracts for speaking and poster sessions at conferences.
? Encourage and support nursing staff advancing in the professional development framework.
? Attends and participates in conferences and continuing education/staff development programs to maintain knowledge of current literature, research on evidence-based practice and health policy.
? The ENC will act as a liaison between clinical support staff and the leadership team.
? Membership and participation in health system committees.
? Serve on committee and task forces as needed.
? Always promote and demonstrate High Reliability Organization principles.
? Assist with staffing when critical needs arise.
? Accurately maintain documentation in the electronic medical record as well as other systems.

? Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.
? Willingness to adapt to different populations within the Maize team as patient demands require. Orientation and training would be provided for new subspecialties.
