Responsibilities*

 

?       We seek highly qualified candidates who will provide compassionate care to adult and adolescent multi-specialty patients and GI patients in the Medical Procedures Units at the East Ann Arbor Medical Procedures Center (EAA MPC). 

  • The candidate will demonstrate the ability to organize and manage multiple interventions simultaneously.
  • Candidates should be enthusiastic and patient-oriented individuals interested in creating the ideal experience for our patients, families, and employees, reporting directly to a Clinical Nursing Supervisor. 
  • Candidates should be able to provide nursing care to patients receiving Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and IUD placement with sedation.
  • Additional specialty procedures may be performed at the EAA MPC at a future date as needed. 
  • Candidates will coordinate nursing care between the pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure phases, which may include directing other registered nurses, endoscopy technicians, and ancillary health care staff. 
  • Under the direction of a Charge Nurse and/or Clinical Nursing Supervisor, the candidate may function in the endo tech role, which includes supporting procedures, endoscope management, preparing readiness of procedure room, assisting with biopsies and other interventions, and room turnover per infection prevention policy.
  • Candidates will administer sedation/analgesia under the direction of a physician. 
  • Candidates will assess and document hemodynamic status during sedation and post-procedure phases.  Initiate and maintain peripheral intravenous lines. 
  • Candidate should be able to provide patient and family-centered education and discharge teaching based on learning needs.
  •  The candidate will have excellent computer skills with proficiency in all Microsoft software applications.
  • They will participate in developing department goals and objectives by attending staff meetings and in-service programs, attending appropriate continuing education opportunities and staff development programs, and participating in quality improvement initiatives to support the implementation of change.
  •  Demonstrated critical thinking skills using the nursing process, excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to set priorities.
  • Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships between units and individuals.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) to practice nursing in Michigan.
  • Minimum two (2) years of RN experience (at full-time status) within the past five (5) years in any of the following specialties: Procedures, Preop/PACU, ICU, ED, Sedation Analgesia Professional, Flight Nurse, or OR.
  • Current ACLS 
  • Ability to stand for an extended period.
  • One (1) year in the last five (5) years demonstrated proficiency with documentation in an electronic health record, e.g., Epic as indicated by interviews, references, and or performance evaluation.

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Gastrointestinal Endoscopy or procedural nursing experience in an inpatient or outpatient care setting within the last 5 years.
  • BSN
  • Clinical nursing certification in Gastroenterology, PeriAnesthesia, or Ambulatory Care nursing.
  • PALS certification
  • Demonstrate excellence in communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Excellent attendance as evidenced by previous work performance evaluations and or attendance records.
  • Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain collaborative multi-disciplinary team relationships; prioritize duties, and multi-task with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate excellence in customer service skills.  The candidate should be able to provide examples during the interview.
  • Proficiency in using and documenting an electronic medical record.
  • Ability to problem-solve independently.
  • Demonstrate accountability to Departmental and Regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in accepting changing clinical assignments on short notice.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidence by resume, annual evaluations, and references.

Work Schedule

 

?      Hours/week: 40 hours. 4 10-hour shifts

Shift: Day/Evening shift; Monday ? Friday; varying start times between 7 and 8 am, (Saturday expectation would occur if patient demands require additional days in the future)

Flexibility in scheduling is required.
