Job Summary

 

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking an experienced Research Specialist to lead specific areas of a large, PCORI-funded clinical trial examining the comparative efficacy of two remote, digital interventions on reducing substance misuse among targeted populations. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of your assigned areas of the study. This will involve monitoring participant recruitment and engagement in study activities, monitoring staff adherence to study protocols and providing feedback as needed, preparing documents for IRB amendments, managing hiring and training for the team you lead, and assisting with funder reporting requirements. Responsibilities*

 
  • 50% Interact with study participants: Contact potential participants, obtain informed consent, and guide them through study enrollment. Deliver intervention content to participants via video calls and messaging within our app-based intervention.
  • 20% Coordinate data management activities: Collaborate with the lab's data analyst to deidentify datasets for closed studies, close out participant tracking databases, and ensure survey documentation is up-to-date.
  • 15% Monitor participant completion of study activities and staff completion of assigned activities
  • 10% Train staff in study procedures
  • 5% Assist with preparing IRB documents and reporting 

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field 
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in clinical, research and people-facing roles
  • Prior experience leading recruitment activities on a large dyadic clinical trial

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Master's degree in clinical psychology, social work or a related field
  • Prior experience delivering therapeutic interventions in a clinical or research setting
  • Prior experience using the Ripple online platform for participant tracking

This position is located in Ann Arbor. Hybrid and remote work options are also possible.

Background Screening

 

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
