This is a full-time term-limited position for six months.

The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN), Office of Financial Transactions & Procurement is looking for a Research Administrator Post Award- who has at least five (5) to seven (7) years post award research administration experience and/or related accounting experience, preferably with a working knowledge of the pre award process.

• Review, understand and articulate to project teams the Notice of Grant Award terms and conditions upon receipt of an award.
• Monitor budgets and reconcile project grants, gifts and internal research funding, providing monthly reports to an assigned set of faculty and researchers in the UMSN.
• Track and prepare effort change forms for effort placed on research funding.  Track and prepare NIH cap adjustment sheets.
• Re-budget as needed by sponsors and researchers upon award
• Prepare and process administrative tasks to include no-cost extensions, establishment of subproject grants, budget reallocations
• Interpret regulations and guidelines of multiple programs funding with complex and broad guidelines for spending. Review and approve spending requests accordingly.
• Ensure compliance with sponsor terms, University policies and procedures and federal regulations.
• Manage complex portfolios of varied research project grants and contracts from multiple sources and with differing project end dates.
• Assist in the preparation of annual and final progress reports
• Work with sponsored programs office to review and process financial status reports (close outs) and UG reports (uniformed guidance)
• Serve as team back up for other team members during scheduled absences or overloads.

Education/Experience: 

• A Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field and relevant work experience to include five (5) or more years of grant/sponsored and non-sponsored project accounting/project management. Master's degree in finance/accounting or a related degree preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work within the University reporting and processing systems. 
• Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely for various mediums, a high attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Advanced Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).

• A high level of resourcefulness, motivation, accountability, and the ability to think analytically. 
• Knowledgeable of relevant University policies related to post award research administration.

Shift/Hours/Days: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; may include some occasional weekend and/or evening hours. This position allows a hybrid work arrangement option. The candidate will be expected to be in the office for a minimum of 2 days/week and maintain flexibility for possible additional days onsite.
