Answer incoming calls from established patients, providing timely and courteous assistance. Responsible for obtaining and updating surgical authorizations via phone, fax, and mail. Maintain and manage patient records and databases with a strong focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance. Perform CPT and ICD-10 coding with precision to support accurate billing and documentation. Coordinate patient care across departments and utilize clinical systems such as MiChart and MiDent to ensure efficient and seamless workflows. Communicate effectively with faculty and staff to facilitate proper care coordination and scheduling. Triage referrals and schedule appointments based on clinical urgency and provider availability. Collect and verify insurance information, explain clinic workflows to patients, and confirm demographic details to support accurate billing and high-quality care delivery.
Resolve a wide range of patient concerns, including billing inquiries, referral issues, and retroactive authorization requests. Perform various administrative and clerical duties as assigned, such as uploading and indexing documents into MiChart and MiDent. Create and maintain patient charts, and utilize platforms including Dropbox, Box, Champs, Delta Dental, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and other state and commercial insurance portals.
Communicate with referring dentists to obtain radiographs, correct referral information, and secure necessary authorizations. Manage medical consults by receiving, processing, and delivering them to the appropriate providers via fax. Follow up with patients regarding appointment scheduling, authorization approvals, and denials. Participate in meetings and contribute to special projects as assigned, supporting overall clinic operations and patient care coordination.
