The University of Michigan Department of Family Medicine seeks a temporary professional to support research activities focused on human-centered design initiatives with vulnerable populations. This position is ideal for candidates with an academic background and proven skills in qualitative research, participatory design, and ethical engagement. This position will work with Dr. Laurie Buis, MPI, on a project related to building a support tool for reproductive age women with physical disabilities. The position will assist with the build of the support tool for the project. The position is part-time 20 hours/week, and is temporary to help address the first aim of the project and therefore will be funded for up to 24 months.

• Collaborate with faculty to design and refine research support tool utilizing human-centered design approaches.
• Assist with the wire-frame development, gather feedback during user testing, and prepare preliminary results of that testing to drive iterative development of the mobile web app. 
• Assist with staff training, ongoing troubleshooting, etc., during the initial few months
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and the synthesis of findings, especially those arising from work with vulnerable or underrepresented populations.
• Engage participants in research activities following best practices for inclusivity and ethical research.
• Maintain high standards of data privacy and confidentiality.

• A degree in informatics or related field (eg. BSI, MSI, MHI, or PhD in Information).
• Demonstrated experience in human-centered design methods (e.g., participatory design, user research, journey mapping).
• Direct experience working with vulnerable populations, preferably in a research or community-based setting.
• Familiarity with ethical considerations in research involving at-risk or marginalized groups.
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to U-M?s standards for privacy and accessibility.

This is a temporary part-time position. Work hours will be no more than 20 hours per week on a schedule mutually beneficial to the Department and the candidate. The position is expected to be remote, with all research meetings and interactions with research participants conducted via videoconferencing.
