The University of Michigan Library in Ann Arbor is one of the world's largest academic research libraries and serves a vibrant university community of 19 schools and colleges with a vision to serve humanity as the defining public institution. The library's mission is to support, enhance, and collaborate in the instructional, research, and service activities of faculty, students, and staff, and contribute to the common good by collecting, organizing, preserving, communicating, sharing, and creating the record of human knowledge.
The Library Safety Coordinator manages the safety program of the University Library. University Library facilities are open to students, faculty, staff, and the broader community, and require a nuanced and coordinated approach engaging with a high volume of users. The Library works to create inclusive and welcoming spaces and services. Workplace safety needs include de-escalation and a focus on inclusive approaches to upholding library policies.
As the Library Safety Coordinator, you will collaborate with multiple partners to deliver a safety training program that includes programs for public interaction. You will also oversee multiple security measures in the Library, including scheduling card reader access. As part of the Library Facilities team, you will also assist with addressing maintenance needs and onsite support of maintenance issues. You will report to the Director of Facilities.
We encourage our employees to incorporate their backgrounds, skills, and life experiences into our work environment and to put our values into practice. Learn more about the Library Mission and Values.
