Mouse colony management: The candidate will manage daily elements of animal colony including maintaining several strains of genetically modified animals, recording litter dates of birth, genotyping, weaning mice, and general husbandry. The individual should be familiar with mouse genetics including complex transgenic and knockout strains. Must be capable of supervising various strains and designing appropriate breeding schemes
- Molecular biology techniques: Perform PCR, western blots, gel electrophoresis, and interpret genetic composition of colony
- Assist with surgery and post-op care
- Detail record keeping skills: The candidate should be familiar with MS Office programs (Word, Excel) for the daily updates of the animal database. The candidate should be able to think independently, maintain meticulous records, and have good troubleshooting skills
