The incumbent in this position reviews, negotiates, and accepts agreements and amendments for the University of Michigan. This position has the responsibility and authority to review and agree to sponsor terms and conditions on behalf of the University as a representative in the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects.
Under management of the Associate Director, Sponsored Contracts, this position is responsible for the following:
Principal Job Duties
Draft various contracts and other legal documents related to sponsored projects, using standard templates.
Responsible for negotiating and accepting awards on behalf of the Institution or recommending for University endorsement if above designated signature authority level.
Negotiate terms and conditions for confidentiality agreements, Amendments, and other agreements as assigned. In this capacity, the Assistant Contract Officer assumes responsibility for differentiating between negotiable positions and absolute requirements.
Provides assistance and guidance to University faculty and staff, usually one-on-one or in small group settings.
Assumes direct contact with faculty as required.
