Job Summary

Applications are being considered for a full-time, instructional/tenure track position in the Head and Neck Oncology Program (HNOP) and the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, University of Michigan Medical School. The successful candidate will have a strong research background with a track record of extramural funding and hold a doctoral degree in biological sciences, cancer biology, or a related field.  A particular focus of this search is on candidates who are interested in cell and molecular biology, immunology, host-microbiome and /or metabolomics-based research aligned with the Head and Neck Oncology Program. HNOP fosters active engagement and collaboration geared towards development and application of biomarker and/or therapeutic strategies at the Rogel Cancer Center at University of Michigan.  Specifically, the focus will be on developing and implementing mouse model and/or cell-based methodologies to study biological models and clinical specimens (e.g. patient-derived organoids) that include, but are not limited to, CRISPR and small molecule-based high-throughput screens as well as single cell and spatial sequencing, proteomic and/or imaging-based investigations.

The faculty position is within the vibrant and highly interactive research environment of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and resides within the very strong and collegial research community of the University of Michigan.  Candidates being considered for this position will be expected to work within a team-based head and neck research program and to support the training and education of multiple learners working in the laboratory environment, including graduate students, post-docs and residents.  We are seeking exceptional scientists to establish vigorous independent research programs, form productive collaborations and promote translation of their research.

We have an excellent benefits and compensation package.
