The Financial Specialist Intermediate provides fiscal support to the Divisions of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, including budget management and oversight for all departmental accounts, assistance with grant-related finances, and other business operations. In addition, this role supports the financial activity of nearly 200 student organizations. This role reports administratively to the Dean of Students and the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, and functionally to the Provost's Office Business Administrator. The Financial Specialist Intermediate is also a key partner to the Financial Services team in supporting strong fiscal management campus-wide. The role includes professional development opportunities such as participation in relevant conferences, training, and professional organizations.

UM-Dearborn serves approximately 8,000 students from the metro Detroit area, as well as throughout Michigan and the world, with 81 birth countries represented on campus. • Reconciles all department accounts on a monthly basis, including management of grant funds
• Monitor expenses and communicate budget and financial information with all relevant departmental leaders on a monthly basis to ensure proper reporting and forecasting of year-end balances
• Provide guidance and support to student organizations on budgeting practices and adherence to university financial policies and procedures
• Develop annual and multi-year budgets in collaboration with divisional and departmental leadership and in support of the campus' strategic goals
• Process financial transactions, including departmental purchasing and invoice payment, and creation of journal entries
• Process personnel transactions and change requests, and reconciling to department budget
• Design and implement financial processes in compliance with university financial policies
• Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal financial policies and procedures
• Manage day-to-day administrative operations of the Enrollment Management and Student Affairs divisions
• Serve as a liaison to the Financial Services office
• Work with counterparts across regional campuses to leverage system-wide opportunities
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related degree; and a minimum of 2 - 3 years work experience aligned with the duties of the role.
• Demonstrated success managing multiple budgets simultaneously, including grants, in a higher education setting.

• Knowledge of the University of Michigan Financial System
• Experience with financial management of grants at the state and federal level.
• Experience with strategic planning and financial oversight in a student affairs context.
