Fundamentals of planning, design and operation of transportation infrastructure. Topics covered include driver and vehicle performance characteristics, roadway design principles, multimodal system design, traffic flow modeling and traffic operations analysis, transportation planning and forecasting, and the impacts of emerging technologies (e.g., connected and automated vehicle) on transportation infrastructure.

Civil and Environmental Engineering seeks one applicant to teach CEE 450, in Winter term 2026 (January 1 - April 30, 2026). Classes begin on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. The class lecture is scheduled to meet in-person Mon/Wed, 10:30am-12:00pm, Rm GFL 107. Recitation is scheduled on Friday, 1:30-2:30pm, Rm 2153 GGB. The position will be 0.30 FTE (30% effort) and requires the lecturer be responsible for teaching students the subject titled Introduction to Transportation Engineering.

A master's degree, or equivalent education and experience, in Civil Engineering is required. PhD in Civil Engineering preferred.  Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience and knowledge of the course subject and of university policies and procedures.  A higher salary may be considered for an extraordinarily qualified candidate.
