• Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze surgical schedules to identify procedures that match defined disease states.
• Chart Review: Extract and review data from patient charts pre-operatively and post-operatively.
• Patient Interaction: Conduct pre- and post-surgery interviews and functional assessments with patients, either in person or by phone.
• Quality Improvement: Co-lead continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department.
• Data Management: Evaluate and enhance current and new data collection processes, addressing and resolving any data discrepancies.
• Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons and clinical staff to ensure the success of the quality improvement program.
• Professional Development: Participate in data coordinator conferences and training sessions to stay abreast of best practices and advancements.
• Interdepartmental Activities: Engage in departmental meetings, conferences, and conference calls to collaborate with a diverse team.

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of experience and education, RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.
• Exceptional computer skills required
  • Database data entry and/or management experience
  • Familiarity and proficiency with MS Office products
• Exceptional interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, and discretion in all aspects of work

• Previous registry experience as a data abstractor
• Experience analyzing and interpreting process measures, clinical outcomes, and costs of care
• Knowledge or experience working with the BCBSM Collaborative Quality Initiatives.
• Familiarity with Epic MiChart
