CVC-4 Cardiovascular ICU and CVC-5 Cardiovascular ICU/Telemetry consist of Adult Cardiovascular Intensive Care and Telemetry patient populations caring for patients who have recently undergone cardiac, thoracic, or vascular surgery. These units specialize in coronary artery bypass, heart and lung transplantation, heart valve repair, ventricular assist devices and esophageal procedures as well aneurysm repairs. Staff members collaborate with the Advanced Practice Team, Residents, Anesthesia, and Surgeons and are involved with patient/family conferences, patient care rounds, and referrals. Perform Charge nurse responsibilities as assigned. Assist in research studies and quality assurance activities.
DUTIES:
Provides professional nursing leadership and administrative direction for the departments of CVC-4 Cardiovascular ICU and CVC-5 Cardiovascular ICU/Telemetry. Participates as a member of leadership teams to provide and continually improve health care services and to support the mission and goals of Michigan Nursing Services, and the Health System.
The Clinical Nursing Supervisor job summary:
- To assist the department Clinical Nursing Directors in planning, coordinating and managing clinical and administrative operations.
- To provide leadership in the practice of nursing, emphasizing quality patient care, service, education and research.
- To assist in coordinating between management and patient care activities consistent with the University of Michigan Hospital/Michigan Medicine mission and goal statements.
- To assist in managing budgets, payroll, commodities, staffing/scheduling, hiring and staff reviews.
- The Clinical Nurse Supervisor will participate in new program development and implementation; plan, organize and evaluate patient care standards guidelines and educational activities; and monitor and implement the continuous quality improvement programs.
- This position reports directly to the Clinical Nursing Director
- 24/7 Accountability for the unit.
