Job Summary

 
  • A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available at the Michigan Center for Translational Pathology, focused on integrating cancer genomics with advanced computational and AI approaches to develop biologically interpretable clinical models. 
  • The study has two complementary aims: Multi-omics discovery in solid tumors - Discover disease mechanisms, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets in solid tumors through multi-omics data analysis of large pan-cancer datasets, including proteogenomic data generated across high-throughput profiling platforms from multiple cancer types.
  • Clinico-genomic infrastructure & modeling - Establish a comprehensive clinico-genomic database, web resource, and information hub for rare pediatric and adult cancers; develop foundational methods for integrating single-cell and clinical transcriptomes; and train, fine-tune, and validate deep learning models using multi-omics and imaging data to predict clinical outcomes such as cancer relapse and targeted therapy response.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Process and preprocess raw data across genomics, proteomics, and epigenomics platforms, including DNA-seq, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, and single-cell sequencing
  • Develop genomic and epigenetic analyses and data portals utilizing Oxford Nanopore (third-generation sequencing) data 
  • Perform in-depth cross-platform omics analyses to identify phenotype-genotype associations, plus downstream statistical analyses
  • Train, fine-tune, and validate deep learning models on multi-omics and imaging data to predict clinical outcomes (e.g., relapse, therapy response)
  • Develop novel analytical pipelines, tools, and methods for studying cancer multi-omics data
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive clinico-genomic database and web resources for rare pediatric and adult cancers
  • Integrate single-cell and clinical transcriptome data through new foundational methods
  • Collaborate with Pathology teams, interfacing computational analyses with traditional pathology workflows
  • Prepare manuscripts describing results for publication in high-impact journals
  • Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team under the supervision of Principal Investigators and senior research staff, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Graduate PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Genomics and Genetics, or related Data Sciences also considered) with relevant experience in bioinformatics and cancer biology
  • Demonstrated publication track record
  • Strong communication, analytical, and collaborative skills

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Prior experience analyzing third generation (long-read/Oxford Nanopore) sequencing data
  • Experience interfacing computational analyses with traditional pathology workflows
