Intern Required Qualifications*
- Current and accurate resume and application must be completed.
- Minimum of a Master degree with graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program in the next 4 months (from date of posting).
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Current ACLS and BLS certification.
- Ability to wear appropriate (PPE) personal protective equipment including but not limited to lead vests and aprons, powered air purifying respirators (PAPR) and N-95 masks.
Required Qualifications to progress to New Graduate CRNA*
This is a preparatory position for a Michigan Medicine staff CRNA. An Intern will be transitioned to a credentialed and privileged new graduate staff CRNA position if all the following criteria have been met by the Intern:
- Successful completion of the National Certification Exam (NCE) - within 45 days of graduating from an accredited CRNA program.
- Failure to successfully complete and pass NCE exam within 45 days of graduating from an accredited CRNA program, will result in termination of Intern position and will not progress to staff CRNA position.
- The candidate is eligible to apply for other positions for which they are qualified (e.g. RN).
- Michigan Nurse Anesthetist Specialty certification documentation initiated and provided as soon as possible following successful completion of the NCE
- Successful completion of credentialing and privileging process through Michigan Medicine
- Satisfactory performance in the Intern role
RN Intern title will be changed to new graduate staff CRNA and pay adjusted based on collective bargaining agreement (CBA) following confirmation of meeting all criteria above.
Once the Intern transitions to a new graduate staff CRNA, they will begin a 6-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of probation, the seniority accrued will begin with the original date of hire as an Intern. Internal hires are exempt from the probationary period.
An Intern can only remain in this position for up to 6 months. Failure to secure other Michigan Medicine employment by 6 months in the position will result in termination of employment.
Must maintain Michigan Registered Nurse licensure, specialty certification, credentialing, privileging, and current ACLS and BLS certifications.
Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.
